Duterte himself has publicly admitted that his Barret’s esophagus has worsened and is “close” to esophageal cancer stage 1. Upon reaching this stage, the cancer cells in his esophagus spread rapidly to all vital organs and kill him within a few months. He needs a major surgery an esophagectomy, which is too risky because of his advanced age and other major illnesses. Without the surgery, however, he has only some six months to live. In view of the foregoing, he must get the surgery if he wants to live. But he must resign to undergo the surgery and have some years to recover.
